The Schoeps CMC141C60g SET is a Collete Modular Microphone Set in Matte Gray and includes the following: CMC 1 U Amplifier, MK 41 Supercardioid Capsule, CUT60 Low-Cut Filter, SG 20 Stand Clamp, B 5 Popscreen.
The Schoeps CMC141C60g SET mic bundle is designed to provide consistent directionality, reduced infrasonic disturbances, and transparent, low-distortion sound pickup of dialog, foley, and instruments in film, television, and music production. Bundle component details follow.
CMC 1 U Amplifier
The Schoeps CMC 1 is a small Colette microphone amplifier, about one-third the size and 40% lighter than the CMC 6. It is compatible with all components of the Colette system and can be used in place of the CMC 6 without compromise, for all applications in which the size and weight of the microphone play a role.
At Schoeps, "uncompromising miniaturization" means that the electrical characteristics of the CMC 1 are equal to, or even better than, those of the CMC 6. Through modern electronic design, these outstanding electrical properties have been achieved:
MK41 Capsule
The Schoeps MK41 modular capsule is designed for use with the CMC preamplifiers. Sound arriving from off axis is attenuated even more than with a standard cardioid. The pickup is "drier" and less susceptible to acoustic feedback, provided there isn't a strong sound source directly on the rear axis of the microphone. Its directivity is highly independent of frequency, so that even sounds arriving off axis and reverberant sound are registered without coloration. Consequently, even distant placement of the microphone produces a very natural sound pickup. It is often preferred for use in film sound recording and as a spot microphone in orchestras.
CUT 60 Low-Cut Filter
The CUT 60 Filter is inserted between the capsule and the microphone amplifier. It prevents the effect of infrasonic disturbances from being passed on to any succeeding device. In particular, pressure-gradient transducers (directional microphones) produce very high infrasonic signal levels when exposed to wind or in elastic suspensions. These can saturate an input transformer or an amplifier stage even before the audible portion of the disturbance becomes noticeable. To avoid this, a very sharp (24 dB/oct) infrasonic filter at 60 Hz is permanently engaged. It has no effect on speech.
